The Prairie Mountain Folk School is a Center for Traditional Craft based in Joseph, Oregon
Our mission is to preserve heritage trades and foster community through experiential learning. We’re passionate about the power of craft not only for a sense of personal worth, but for knitting a strong regional community.
Prairie Mountain connects people and community with actual craftspeople who are working to preserve and share their trade.
Our goal is to inform and educate. By offering classes and workshops, we give locals and travelers alike the chance to learn at our Wallowa County campus. We empower students in a non-competitive, intergenerational learning environment that provides the vital platform for the survival of these skills for future generations.
Nestled in the Northeast corner of Oregon, between the Zumwalt Prairie and Wallowa Mountains, the town of Joseph is famous for its rich Nez Perce history, ample outdoor recreation and stunning natural beauty. Because of an abundance of local craftspeople, coupled with community support, Prairie Mountain Folk School is the perfect place to create with your hands.
