Necessary & Useful:

Constructing a Shaker Stool

Prairie Mountain Folk School - Necessary & Useful

The Shakers were famous for their post & rung chairs. We'll get you started with a simple stool project. Starting with prepared wooden stock, we'll cut mortises and tenons, glue our stool together with traditional hide glue, and then weave a seat out of tough cotton webbing. A little experience in woodworking is nice, but optional. And there's no experience needed in weaving - it's easy! Instructor Tom Bonamici will be in charge, sharing everything he knows about Shaker design.
